Fire crews tackled a large blaze involving a vehicle in Basildon last night.

The firefighters were called to the incident in Nethermayne at about 8.09pm. Images from the scene show huge orange flames covering the vehicle in the road in the town.

The huge, glowing and orange flames had completely engulfed the vehicle during the incident in the busy Basildon road.

Essex Fire Service bosses say the firefighters found the car was 100 per cent alight and service bosses believe it was caused accidentally.

Images also show large amounts of smoke rising up into the air and firefighters on the scene putting out the blaze.

An Essex Fire Service spokesman said: “A crew from Basildon was called to a vehicle fire on Nethermayne, Basildon at 8:09pm.

“On arrival, crews reported that a car was 100 per cent alight. Firefighters extinguished the fire by 8:42pm and believe it was caused accidentally.”
