HUNDREDS of flight enthusiasts tuned in yesterday morning to watch as two easyJet flights took off for sunny destinations from Southend.

Southend Airport ran a Facebook livestream in partnership with aviation-guru SDTV Spotter Dedicated TV following jets taking of for Palma de Mallorca and Malaga.

Excited passengers lined up for photographs before setting off for the Spanish cities.

“Great to see two easyJet tails on the ground this morning with flights to Palma de Mallorca and Malaga,” a Southend Airport spokesman said.

The event came more than a month after the airport saw its first summer flights of the year take-off on March 29.

With tickets on sale to Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Faro and the latest addition recently Amsterdam, the airport is in full swing once again.
