A MAN has died after a crash involving an e-scooter and a van on Canvey.

Essex Police were called to Harvest Road at around 5:50pm on Friday after a crash.

It was reported a van and an e-scooter were involved.

The rider of the e-scooter, a man aged in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and, sadly, later died in hospital.

A 49-year-old man, from Southend, has been arrested and questioned on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are investigating a fatal collision which took place on Canvey.

“The rider of the e-scooter, a man aged in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and, sadly, later died in hospital.

“His family is being supported and our investigation into this incident is ongoing.

“A 49-year-old man, from Southend, was arrested and questioned on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

“We need any witnesses, or anyone with information or dash cam footage which could assist our investigation, to come forward.

“Please contact us quoting incident 890 of Friday 27 October.”

The East of England Ambulance Service also attended and transported the man to The Royal London Hospital, where he later died.

A spokesman added: “Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, and ambulance officer vehicle and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to the B1014 on Canvey on Friday, October 27, following reports of a man injured in a road traffic collision.”
