A man has died in hospital following a serious crash in south Essex this month.

Police were called to a crash involving a black Volkswagen Golf and a blue BMW 320i in Doddinghurst Road, near the Brentwood Leisure Centre, at 7.35pm on Friday, February 2.

Two passengers in the BMW – a man and a woman – were seriously injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

Sadly, the male passenger, who is in his 30s, died there eight days later.

He was also taken to hospital and has since been released under investigation.

The driver of the Golf was also taken to hospital.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Specialist officers are supporting the family of the man who has died and our enquiries into the collision are ongoing.

"If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.
