A BLAZE in an outdoor aviary in Southend has killed a large number of animals and birds.
About 50 birds and 14 ferrets died in the fire which is being treated as suspicious.
It started at 6.15am and two crews from Southend fire station attended.
The garden aviary and run was attached to the house in Kipling Mews and both this and a neighbouring house were damaged as the flames spread.
An investigation by police and the fire service has started.
