A SCHOOL is celebrating an Ofsted report which has rated it as outstanding in several categories.

Buttsbury Infant School, in Billericay, was given an overall good rating, an improvement on its last inspection, and was praised for its style of learning and children’s behaviour.

A previous inspection in 2005 rated the school as providing a satisfactory standard of education, but that has now risen to good with no categories falling below this rating.

Susanne Haskins, headteacher, said: “We are very proud of everybody. It is a testament to the hard work of the whole school community. We feel the report is an accurate reflection of the commitment shown by all concerned.”

In an open letter to parents and children from the school, lead inspector Alison Pangbourne said: “Your behaviour is excellent and you enjoy all the opportunities you are given.

“It was good to hear you know it is healthy to eat fruit and vegetables and that you feel safe in school. Mrs Haskins and the governors work hard to make sure your school is a lovely place to be. Your families know that you go to a good school.”

The school was rated as outstanding for the overall personal development of the pupils and for the way they enjoy lessons and behave.
