In the Echo (Nov 12) we find plans for 2,000 new homes at Bournes Green. The developers are Robert Leonard Group along with another developer.
Further on, I read plans for a four-star hotel have been put on ice, again the developer is Robert Leonard.
Southend Independent councillor Martin Terry is of the opinion that the council is “being taken for a ride.”
Seven years ago approval for housing and the hotel was given, the housing has been finished and sold, but surprise, surprise the hotel has not been started.
When is the council going to realise the only way this hotel will be built is that the developers are told only when they start to build it will they get any other planning consent.
No planning consent, no profit. Just see how fast the hotel goes up then.
