I wrote to Essex County Council leader Lord Hanningfield to ask him if he would like to give us low-paid workers the extra money it costs to take children away during school holidays, but so far I’ve had no reply.
Why should we not take a holiday for 16 years? We work 40 hours a week for minimum wage.
Holidays relax you and we all need some sun and experience of other cultures and countries could be used in geography lessons.
But it’s OK to have half term then stick on extra days for teacher training.
Why are school children breaking up on December 19?
December 22 would be soon enough, and a return on January 3, not January 6.
