BILLERICAY funnyman Lee Evans is set to be a guest star in an episode of Doctor Who.
The comedian will be appearing in an Easter special alongside former EastEnders star Michelle Ryan – who is rumoured to have landed the sought after role of the Doctor’s assistant.
Evans is best known for his energetic stand-up comedy, but is no stranger to working in front of the camera.
He has appeared in a number of Hollywood films including MouseHunt, There’s Something About Mary and The Fifth Element.
In the forthcoming Doctor Who episode, Planet of the Dead, he will play a character called Malcolm, whose life becomes connected to the Doctor’s in unusual circumstances.
The episode is the first of four specials planned to mark the end of current star David Tennant’s time as the Doctor and filming has already started in Wales.
Relative unknown Matt Smith will become the eleventh Doctor when he takes over the role from Tennant in 2010.
