BLUES fans have been reassured about the security of their personal details after a break-in at the club.

Concerned supporters have been posting on an internet forum after four laptops were stolen from the Roots Hall ticket office.

The burglars threw a brick through the window before sneaking into the call centre to swipe the computers, worth an estimated £2,000.

But club spokesman Dave Scriven said the laptops were only used to sell tickets and held no personal information.

He said: “Supporters don’t need to worry about their information having been lost.

“The machines don’t contain anyone’s personal details.”

Mr Scriven said the database is held centrally and the laptops would need to be connected to the server to obtain information.

He believes it is unlikely the burglars would even be able to gain access to the stolen machines.

He added: “Unless the people who have stolen them know exactly what they are doing they are unlikely to be able to get on them because of the security on them.

“They’d have to wipe the machines down and take the hard drive out. You’d need to know what you were doing.”

An alarm was set off during the raid, but the burglars had got away before police arrived.

Mr Scriven said: “It’s just a window that needs to be replaced.

“They just threw a brick through the window, there’s not a lot you can do about that. The alarm went off, but they were gone before the police turned up.”

Shrimperzone, a fans’ website, had received posts from at least 15 fans discussing the break-in.

Ken Jarvis, one of the directors of Shrimperzone, said: “People know the state the club’s in.

“It’s never nice when it happens, but the main thing with most of the supporters is they are only concerned with what happens on the pitch.”

Police said the break-in happened at 1am on Wednesday and urged anyone with information to call them on 0300 3334444.
