I attended one of the exhibitions held by Colonnade on its proposal to build 300 homes on green belt in Stambridge.

Members of the public I spoke to were sadly under the impression that by filling in comments forms supplied by the developer their objections to the proposal had been made.

Nothing could be further from the truth. There is no suggestion their comments will be passed to the district council.

We must all be vigilant and monitor Rochford District Council’s website.

The Final Core Strategy will be on the full council agenda for July and if the site is included everyone will need to make their objections during the six week consultation period in September/October.

They need to object to any site in this part of the district being included because it is green belt, has huge highways and infrastructure deficits and because this part of Thames Gateway is supposed to serve as its “green lung”.

Colonnade has plans to concrete over large parts of south-east Essex, including building 10,000 homes in the Great Wakering/Barling area and they must be stopped.
