Having decided to book tickets for an upcoming concert at the Cliffs Pavilion, in Westcliff, I arrived at the box office in order to purchase them.
On arriving, I was informed by the woman on the desk I would need to pay a further fee of £2.50 per ticket as I was paying with a credit card.
I told her I could pay with a debit card, so the money would come directly out my account, but she said I would still be charged £2.50 per ticket I thought this was outrageous and inquired as to the reason why? I could, perhaps, understand it if the tickets had to be sent to me, but after all I was at the box office to pick them up.
Where exactly were the extra costs being incurred, especially considering the amount of transactions taking place?
The woman told me the £2.50 extra per ticket was “just falling in line with other theatres charges etc.”
I suggested, perhaps, in these credit crunch times, the Cliffs Pavilion and these “other theatres” could get together and axe this totally unnecessary charge, as we, as music lovers, are paying more than enough for a night out as it is.
