MOBO Award winner Kano performs for the Absolute clubbing crowd at Mayhem, Southend, tomorrow night.

Best known for his collaboration with Craig David, This is the Girl, which hit the top 20 of the UK charts, the 23-year-old rapper has also enjoyed success with Typical Me.

Four years ago, Kano was nominated for four Mobo Awards, winning the Best Newcomer category. He was also named as one of London’s Heroes of 2005, by Mayor of London Ken Livingstone.

He was nominated for a Brit Award for Best Urban Act in 2006 and made a small cameo appearance in the British film, Rollin’ with the Nines.

A former member of East London’s Nasty Crew, Kano released his third studio album last year, 140 Grime Street. It included the single Hustler, and the autobiographical Aim for the Sky, in which Kano describes his rise to commercial success.

His other albums are Home Sweet Home and London Town, which both made the top 40.

PR manager at the Warrior Square-based club, Gav Lloyd, says: “Kano is a very talented musical artist and it will be great to have him as our guest in Southend.”
