THE atmosphere at Mayhem is set to reach another level when former boy band star Dane Bowers takes to the decks.

The 29-year-old singer, turned DJ and record producer, will be performing at the club, in Warrior Square, Southend, tomorrow.

Dane made his name in pop group Another Level, which scored seven top ten hits in the late Nineties, including the number one single Freak Me, in 1998.

He had a further two hits with garage act True Steppers, the second of which, Out Of Your Mind, featured Victoria Beckham on vocals and peaked at number two in the charts.

Later, he notched up two more top ten hits with his solo project, Dane.

The musician also branched out into TV to co-host Popstars: The Rivals extra show and appeared on Totally Boyband.

He’s been a regular face in the tabloids since dating glamour model Jordan, in 2000.

“He’s very popular with the ladies and his set seems to incorporate that as well,” jokes Gav Lloyd, promotions manager at Mayhem. “There’s always a big group of girls around the DJ box, which is probably why he likes coming down here.

“He gets the place jumping.”

Dane has played at the club twice before and will be spinning R‘n’B and hip hop tunes, as well as funky house and dance anthems.

Doors open at 9pm, and entry is £5 before 10.30pm and £7 after.
