OUTSTANDING members of a Scout group have been rewarded for their voluntary work.

Eleven dedicated volunteers who run and make 1st Hullbridge Scout Group the success it is, have been given Rochford and Rayleigh Voluntary Service outstanding achievement awards.

They have a staggering 114 years service between them – the longest serving is Linda Barnes, the treasurer, with 30 years’ service.

Derrick Stansby, vice chairman of Rochford District Council, handed out the awards at a ceremony at Belchamps Scouts Activity Centre, in Hawkwell.

Stephen Buttifant, executive committee member with the Scouts, said: “Without the commitment and dedication of each individual the group would not have the benefit of a Scouting programme being as fun, exciting and safe for everyone.”

The volunteers who received awards were Kevin Potter, Linda Barnes, Pam Corps, Steve Corps, Brian Crocker, Jackie Abrehart, Tracey Potter, Anita Lynn, Don Beaton, Luke Fisher and Ian Thompson.
