KIND-HEARTED Rotarians have handed over almost £10,000 to Southend’s lifeboat station.
The £9,800, donated by Rayleigh Mill Rotary Club to Southend Royal National Lifeboat Institution, will be used to buy replacement engines for its Atlantic 75 lifeboat, which is due for a refit this summer.
The money was raised by the Concerts in the Park, which the club organises each summer in Priory Park, Southend.
Concert chairman Andrew Shackleton presented the money to the RNLI’s Craig Covell and Tony Bonham at the pier-end where the Atlantic 75 is kept by the station.
This year’s concert is on Saturday, June 27, and will feature the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, soprano Summer Watson and the Southend Boys and Girls choir.
