I was surprised to read the article, Stormy Reception for School’s Wind Turbine Dream, about the improvements which will take place at Westborough Primary in Westcliff (June 17).

When we undertook consultations locally, only one person objected, and on our open day only one person was from Gainsborough Drive.

The local authority has signed up to the Nottingham agreement, committing it, and us, to a green approach to help combat increasing global warming.

Much as we would like to cut electricity bills, this is not the primary reason for building a wind turbine on the site. A source of electricity which does not produce carbon dioxide is a way forward, environmentally.

The noise made by the turbine is less than that made by a passing car, and on windy days it will make less noise than the wind.

Also, there is no danger from the turbine.

If resident, Bob Evans, had visited the school, he could have asked the headteacher if he could make an appointment with the architects to ask any questions he had. Instead, he appears to have canvassed several roads, giving only one side of the story.
