I could not disagree more strongly with GE Dent about the proposed cycle path from Chalkwell to Leigh. It will not be for a small number” of cyclists as suggested, but for an increasing number of local residents, children and visitors who will be able to use the route rather than cycle illegally on the cinder path or risk the busy, narrow roads past Chalkwell station.
As a local GP and regular cyclist I support the council in moves to encourage exercise in a safe environment and to develop the local area as a “cycling destination”
with the forthcoming Olympics.
I see the harmful effects of increasing inactivity on young and old on a daily basis, and applaud Southend Council in its attempts to reverse this trend.
