It’s fantastic Rezidor Hotels group is restoring and reopening Southend’s Palace Hotel and will create at least 60 new jobs (June 22).
But why only give it only three stars?
More importantly, why on earth change the name to the dreary Park Inn Southend?
The new name sounds like a low-end hotel. Renaming this landmark is a bit like renaming the Dorchester.
It’s always been called the Palace and everyone knows it as the Palace.
I would love to start up a petition to present to Rezidor Hotels to strongly urge them not to rename this historic hotel.
