In response to Mr Beckett, on (Letters July 20), the Echo carried an article about Southend’s bid for Kickstart funding.
The article was based upon a press release which clearly stated there would be a bus covering the following roads: Leigh Rail Station, Leigh Post Office, Elmsleigh Drive, Eastwood Road, The Fairway, Progress Road, Rayleigh Road, Whitehouse, Nestuda Way, Prince Avenue, Priory Crescent, Eastern Avenue, Archer Avenue, Hamstel Road, North Avenue, Sutton Road, and Travel Centre.’ Unfortunately the Echo failed to include this information.
However, it is my understanding this route will do exactly as Mr Beckett wishes and link Leigh Broadway with the Woodcutters.
We are currently looking to provide better access through the Progress Road Junction.
We have listened to residents.
We did work to provide the current Tuesday service and now there is an opportunity to bid for an even fuller service we are doing so in this kickstart bid.
Anna Waite
Councillor responsible for Transport
Southend Council
