A SCHOOLBOY has died after collapsing following a PE lesson.
Jay Waters, 12, who was in Year 8, was taken ill at William de Ferrers School in South Woodham Ferrers on Wednesday morning.
Ambulance crews rushed to the school and he was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford where he later died.
Andrew Merchant, deputy head teacher, said pupils and staff were deeply upset and shocked at the incident.
He said: “It is with great sadness I can confirm that one of our students died earlier today.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time."
