CAT rescuers are looking for a new home for a Siamese crossbreed, found dumped in a ditch.
The cat, christened Cleo by Rayleigh, Castle Point and District Cats Protection, which is looking after her, was abandoned in the Rochford area three weeks ago. She was rescued by Rochford Council wardens and is thought to be about ten years old.
Mavis Webster, the council’s animal welfare champion, said: “Owners need to take a greater responsibility for their animals and not just abandon them, especially in the current freezing temperatures when they are unlikely to survive.”
To find out about giving Cleo a home, call Cats Protection, on 01268 750831.
The local group is holding a cat rehoming event at the Methodist Church Hall, in Eastwood Road, Rayleigh, tomorrow, between 10.30am and 1pm.
