Now the MPs’ expense gravy train is heading for the buffers, whoever instigated it must be named and sacked.

Seemingly, it has been going on for years and years secretly and unchecked.

The latest sickening revelation of council and NHS chief executives’ huge salaries and golden handshakes awarded to themselves highlights the contemptible arrogance shown by these people in helping themselves to other people’s money, ie the public purse.

So no more second homes, use landladies and, for one or two nights away from home, use bed and breakfast, like reps do.

There should be no more expense claims or allowances. They should do like the rest of the public do and manage everything from one’s own salary, including exorbitant fares to get to work.
