THE expansion of Southend Airport is closer to becoming reality after officers recommended the plans for approval.
Planning officials at Southend Council have said the extension of the runway by 300m, the diversion of Eastwoodbury Lane and demolition of six cottages on the road should go ahead.
The expansion could create more than 1,100 jobs.
Councillors on Southend Council's development control committee meets on Wednesday, January 20, to consider the officers' report.
