A BILLERICAY Town footballer must pay £1,500 for getting into a drunken brawl.
Defender Christopher Wild, 26, was found guilty of affray after a boozy night out.
Judge Stephen Warner told the father-of-two “he should know better at his age” when he handed out the fine at St Albans Crown Court.
The punch-up broke out at the Baroosh Pub, in Fore Street, Hertford, on October 12, 2008. At an earlier hearing, Wild was cleared of two charges of causing actual bodily harm to police officers.
Wild, of Roselands Avenue, Hoddesdon, has previous convictions for assault and violent disorder dating back to October 2002, the court heard.
Wild was ordered to pay a £500 fine, £1,000 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge. He must pay within two months or face 14 days in jail.
