It seems a shame First have ditched the X40 route without really considering a few imaginative marketing options.

The X40 Basildon to Stansted service wasn’t launched with any great fervour and has gone out with a whimper.

The cost of a return ticket to Stansted was £18 – the same as the X30 from Southend and Rayleigh. This is all well and good for a person travelling on their own, but for two or three people, it makes no economy on using the car as an alternative.

With competitive prices on car parking at Stansted available on-line and even taking into account the cost of petrol, using the bus is more expensive for two or more travelling together.

Perhaps First might consider tickets to the airport that offer saving on more than one person travelling together. It would be a sad day if the X30 joins the growing list of decreasing bus services in our county.

It was a great shame for Basildon folk to loose the X40 and it would be an even bigger tragedy if the X30 falls by the wayside too.
