WORK to replace 3km of old iron gas mains in Rayleigh is entering its final stages.
The last stage of National Grid’s £800,000 project to lay new plastic pipes, which began last year, will start in High Street on Tuesday, April 6 April and should be completed within three weeks.
Work will be taking place between Weir Farm Road and Brook Road. This stretch of High Street will become one-way northbound for the duration of the works, with the southbound section closed.
A diversion will be in place via Glasseys Lane, Weir Gardens and Brook Road for southbound traffic.
Engineers will then complete small sections of mains replacement and road resurfacing in the town.
Anyone with questions about the project can call a helpline on 0800 096 5678.
