Brian Wilson (May 24) has misunderstood both the present leader and the elected mayor system on Castle Point Council.
The present leader chooses to elect only Tory councillors to the cabinet, and therefore ignores the wishes of the whole of Canvey’s voters.
An elected mayor would be chosen by all of Castle Point’s voters, and if we chose wisely, and not based on any political party, the elected mayor would then choose the cabinet from the councillors all over the borough in a fairer way, so that Canvey gets a voice on the cabinet.
I notice the cabinet chosen last week was again selected with a total disregard for us.
