A MAN has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm in connection with an incident involving armed police in Station Road, Westcliff.

Ian Stockers, 43, unemployed from Station Road, Westcliff is due to appear at Southend Magistrates Court today after being charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence following the incident at 4.50pm on August 11.

Officers swooped on the terraced house in Station Road in Westcliff sparking an hour long stand off.

Two other men aged 60 and 41 have been released without charge.

A fourth man was arrested during the incident for unconnected offences.

John Terry, 28, from Alibon Road, Dagenham has been charged with two assaults on police officers, an act of outraging public decency, and two public order offences.

He is also due to appear at the court today. They surrounded the house while worried neighbours looked on.
