HISTORY will come to life for visitors to Hadleigh Country Park as an Iron Age home is inhabited and recreated by a group of actors.

The Roundhouse is a realistic reconstruction of an Iron Age dwelling and on Sunday it will be inhabited by a “chieftain” and his family.

As well as getting a glimpse of the family going about their daily tasks, including woodcraft and weaving, visitors will be able to watch a blacksmith cast bronze and make tools on a primitive forge.

Ansgar Aldridge, ranger at Hadleigh Country Park, says: “This event is an example of how the Roundhouse would have been used in the Iron Age.

“It will give visitors a real taste of what life was like by watching the demonstrations and taking part in the many activities.

“This is an event for all the family where they can get involved and step back in time”

People can meet the owls from Rescuers Wildlife Sanctuary as well as getting involved in the action with a variety of activities on offer including Roman army drills, children’s crafts, bushcraft and a catapult range.

The event is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm and admission is £2 per person or £7.50 for a family ticket for two adults and two children.
