A MAN has died after falling through ice and plunging into a freezing lake.
His family looked on in horror as he struggled to get out of the water before he disappeared.
The tragedy unfolded at the Doggetts Fishing Lake in Doggetts Chase, Rochford yesterday at about 1.30pm .
The man, believed to be aged 31, had been out walking his dog with relatives when he decided to venture onto the frozen lake.
After walking along the surface for about 50 metres, the ice gave way and the man plunged into the freezing water below.
