A MAN was hospitalised with serious facial injuries following an apparently unprovoked attack.
The 24-year-old victim from Westcliff was walking with his girlfriend in West Road, Westcliff, at around 2.45am on New Years Day.
A man on a bike wearing dark clothing cycled up behind them, then punched and kicked the man a number of times.
He was taken to Southend Hospital suffering severe facial injuries.
An Essex Police spokeswoman said: “At this stage it was an apparently unprovoked assault. We are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.”
