GRANTS of up to £2,000 for keen cyclist groups are up for grabs.
Young peoples’ community groups who want to branch out into cycling are invited to a council meeting on Monday to find out more.
The meeting will be led by Alex Wise, a local officer for Bike Club, a national organisation which helps to fund projects of up to £2,000 to lead cycle activities for youngsters aged from 10 to 20.
Southend’s councillor for transport and planning, Mark Flewitt, said: “This is another exciting opportunity available as part of Southend’s Cycle Town project.
“It is aimed especially at encouraging young people to cycle, to enable them to join positive activities and help develop their health and well-being while cycling safely.”
Bike Club is a project which works with youngsters and families to improve health through cycling.
This meeting is at 4.30pm at the Johnson Room at the Tickfield Centre, in Tickfield Avenue, Southend.
