I was incensed that the price of alcohol will have to rise to try to stop the drunken scenes we have been shown on TV. Rubbish.

If the young and not so young want to get drunk, they will do so at any price.

The scenes we were shown were not the result of supermarket sales, they were of drunks coming out of clubs and pubs.

If we were not so soft, providing buses and safe havens for them, this would soon be on the decline.

What is needed is a rethink of the licensing hours and to throw the drunks in jail overnight to sober up, then fine them the next morning.

Stop providing hospital treatment for them. People have to be responsible for their own actions. Perhaps benefits should be given as food tokens, only to be used in supermarkets for that very thing.

Why should I, who likes the odd bottle of wine at home, now suffer an increase?

What also incensed me was the possible provision of a place to drink and get drunk, where drinkers would not be offensive to others. This is the opposite of alcohol-free zones.

The lunatics are running the asylum and the country, I think.
