A TEENAGER has been given an Asbo after he went on a booze-fuelled rampage.

George Long caused so much trouble on Bonfire Night last year, police sought the order.

The 16-year-old had punched five different people in and around Wickford High Street in just 24 hours.

Basildon Magistrates’ Court agreed to a two-year antisocial behaviour order which bans him from drinking in the street.

Long, of Carlton Road, Wickford, is also banned from being drunk in a public place and harassing anyone.

Sgt Scott Threadgold, of Wickford police, said: “The Asbo was on the back of a number of violent offences which occurred in and around the High Street area around Bonfire night.

“Due to public support, victim and witness statements, police managed to obtain a successful application for an Asbo.”

Police connected the crimes to the fact Long had consumed alcohol on November 5.

Officers believed an Asbo was the best way to prevent the same problems happening in the future.

Sgt Threadgold explained: “In the light of the number of offences committed during that period an Asbo would have been the most productive method in order to try to prevent the offender from re-offending.”
