The story and image about HGV drivers who flout weight rules and use side streets as rat runs (July 20) appeared to imply our truck was breaking highways rules by using a road with a 7.5ton limit.
The picture seemed to show our vehicle driving in the right hand filter lane of the A127, as if to turn on to Prince Avenue, which has a weight restriction.
However, on closer inspection, we could see Tarmac’s truck was in fact using the left hand lane, which has no weight limit.
I assure people our truck was not using the road incorrectly or breaking any rules.
We take safety seriously.
We are a big employer in the area and supply material to many local projects, but it is incredibly important to us that we do this in a responsible and safe way.
