I have lived in Benfleet for years and now live in Louisa Avenue, near Tarpots.
I have been told we will no longer be able to turn right into Rushbottom Lane off the A13 when coming from Southend once traffic lights are installed. Are we expected to use side roads to join Church Road, and the resulting traffic chaos, when we only live a few hundred yards from Tarpots?
I am sure residents of those roads will not be delighted with that. I remember when Bartley Road was shut to motorists because residents complained about traffic using it to get to Rushbottom Lane rather than facing the previous traffic lights.
Will the council follow suit and block off Lambeth and Kennington Roads?
I don’t think those residents living in those roads will be so lucky.
This idea is ridiculous and I do not see traffic lights working at this ages old bottleneck.
Now the Woodside estate has grown and there are so many more cars on the roads, I dread to think what traffic lights will do.
