Does Castle Point Borough Council’s initials of CPBC really stand for Completely Paralysed Borough Commuters?

Thank you for publishing the dramatic news of the repair works on Canvey Way (Mar 1). The residents of this borough will start to think Essex Highways Department does not have a clue what it’s doing.

The East Haven viaduct, which takes the Canvey Way commuters, will be closed from Sunday for one week. The only other escape route off Canvey, Canvey Road, is also being closed for the same period for bridge repairs.

None of the giant notices placed along both routes mention that the work will take place between 8pm and 6am, or overnight, excluding the weekend.

This should just about cause the suicide rate for motorists in the borough to increase, as we have the Tarpots to Sadlers Farm “improvements”, the main Sadlers Farm works, a further set of lights in Essex Way, Benfleet, which has helped slow things up for Canvey folk heading for Southend, and other delays on Canvey due to traffic lights near the golf course in Somnes Avenue.

What a marvellous piece of forward planning.
