A HEAVILY pregnant woman appeared in court in connection with the death of a man in Clacton.

No charges were put to Elisha Francois, 21, when she made a brief appearance in court yesterday and the case was adjourned.

Francois, formerly of Trimley Close, Clacton, but now of Amersham Walk, Harold Hill, will return to Chelmsford Crown Court later this month for a plea and case management hearing.

She was bailed with conditions not to contact prosecution witnesses or leave the Harold Hill area, except for medical and legal appointments. Francois, who is expecting a baby next month, has been charged with the murder of Oli Smith-Daye.

Mr Smith-Daye, 29, of West Avenue, Clacton, died in hospital following an incident in Trimley Close, Clacton, on New Year’s Day at about 4.25am.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died from head injuries.

Charlie Jacobs, 22, of Beach Road, Clacton, and Alan Didier, 42, of Renfrew Close, London, are facing charges in connection with the death of Mr Smith-Daye.

Francois, Jacobs and Didier will return to court on April 30 for the plea and case management hearing.

The two men are in custody.
