Delays were caused on the Greater Anglia train line because of power problems at Southend Airport station.
Engineers from Network Rail were called out at about 12noon after reports of signalling and overhead cable problems causing issues at the stop.
Trains services running between Southend Victoria and London Liverpool Street have been cancelled, with delays of up to 60 minutes affecting other services.
Some trains were left waiting at stations such as Hockley and Rochford while workmen attempted to fix the problems.
The issue was resolved by engineers at about 1.30pm, with some services still experiencing delays.
