HE was forced to cancel his original date with Southenders due to illness, but Andy Hamilton has rearranged and will be at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff, next week.

The comedian, who penned hit sitcom Outnumbered along with writing partner Guy Jenkin, is a regular presence on Have I Got News For You and QI, as well Radio 4 programme the News Quiz.

Then there’s his acclaimed role as Satan in self-penned radio show Old Harry’s Game, which also runs regularly on Radio 4.

His live show, the Hat of Doom, sees Andy shift his focus each evening as the audience pick subjects out of a hat on the night.

The improvised nature of the show means a surprise for both Andy and the audience every time. He explains: “The show is always slightly different – or more than just slightly different. It’s very funny, but then I would say that.”

He loves interacting with the audience, adding: “It’s really nice, actually. Meeting the audience is really nice and interesting, too, because every show is so different.

“Every place is different. It’s a really interesting way of seeing England, actually.

“You end up going to places you wouldn’t always go to. I used to come to Southend as a kid, but I haven’t been back for a long time.”

Andy Hamilton is at the Palace Theatre, London Road, Westcliff, on Monday, May 21, at 8pm. Tickets are £19. Call 01702 351135.
