The Role:
THE Echo, the daily paper for south Essex, is seeking to appoint a deputy news editor to help mastermind our newsgathering operation to maintain our position as one of the best-performing papers in the UK in terms of circulation.
The post, based at our headquarters in Basildon, primarily involves leading and motivating our reporting teams, building on our enviable reputation for producing quality papers, packed with well-developed news that gives our readers what they want.
The Person
The successful applicant will also be tasked with leading our talented team of reporters, ensuring stories and news backgrounders are developed to meet their full potential. He/she will also have a particular focus on our websites and social media output.
