I bet it was caused by a car turning right into the High Road. I have seen lots of near misses at this new junction.

I'd say a car intending to go straight on towards Rushbottom Lane has set off on the wrong traffic light. I have seen this happen so many times. The left traffic light changes (to a green LEFT TURN arrow) and other lanes think the light has changed for them and go straight on. But I'm not sure, there are a couple of other common mistakes people make there, I have to say it's not the best road layout.

Shouldn't you really notice the signs before you get to the traffic lights?

"Dual carriageway"? I wish and so would many more. It is a 4 lane road. There is always problems with new road layouts. However, is the traffic no longer queuing back from Tarpots causing a snarl up at Sadlers Farm roundabout? The only time I have had to use it was rush hour on Friday evening it was. If that is regular occurance then Sadler's Farm is no improvement for Benfleet.
