THREE budding young politicians got to experience life first-hand on their campaign trail as they launched their bids to become Southend’s Youth Mayor.
Teenagers Kavi Chauhan, Chris Copley and Megan Sylvester used loud hailers and spoke to youngsters on the burning issues affecting them, as they canvassed votes for the election taking place next month.
The decision to scrap the Southend Air Show, policing, crime and education were just some of the topics the teens - who are all aged between 15 and 17 - spoke to their peers about at Southend’s Victoria Shopping Centre on Saturday.
Results will be announced at the Southend Youth Council meeting on Wednesday, February 6, from 5pm to 7pm in the Council Chamber, at Southend Civic Centre, by the mayor Sally Carr.
