Is there a lot of trouble in Rayleigh pubs then..?

This scheme has been going on in Newcastle, manchester, leeds and many other citys since the 80s . Took us long enough to follow suit.

Rayleigh has has problems for years in pubs, around the railway station & high street especially. A lot of the youth (well up to their 40's!) dont like outsiders from London, Southend or elsewhere coming to their manor & showing 'disrespect'. Most of the violence involves an non local against a group of locals.

Despite being larger (& more advanced!) Southend does not get same amount of fights on a typical weekend as Rayleigh does. I imagine because southend are use to people form different towns coming in for a good time, which is not the case with Rayleigh with the exception of one to two night spots.

Shock, horror surely not this sort of trouble in Rayleigh? There are some people who live in Rayleigh who believe that sort of thing only happens on Canvey and are all too quick to say so. Maybe they will admit trouble like this happens everywhere.

Oh my god!. there are still area's that are still not using this service, no wonder this town is still unsafe.....

Why has the local police not got involved years ago with this matter of ASB?. Um Essex police letting the general public down yet again.

Good luck to all that have signed up to join this venture, I hope the police and local councilors attend their area Pubwatch meetings....

I will say it has helped in other towns locally.

Similar thing in Rochford...... you walk in a pub there and its like the scene from american werewolf in london........ your quite right, there's definately a problem with 'small town mentality' not liking non locals......

It is unlikely that the scheme is legal.

Its run by the council and police ! 100% legal and sensible.

The town must be one of the most overcrowded with pubs (although the White Hart sh**hole has been closed again) and now two clubs plus a so-called wine bar. People are coming from nearby areas and causing all sorts of trouble after the Linx closes in the evening.
There is now the Bar Blanco in Eastwood Road, while the Spread Eagle has a late licence.
Don't forget it wasn't that long ago that 'Class A' drugs were found at the Travellers Joy!
The town is not a safe place to be at the weekend.
More so because scumbag parents allow their teenage siblings out late. It's about time the local businesses got together as the police will do nothing, I believe shut up shop around 10pm.

Rayleigh has some new bars so it's obviously going to get more trouble, but to say it gets more than southend on a typical weekend is, in my opinion, just wrong.

but i thought rayleigh was the jewell in the crown? implement this scheme and there'll be no customers.

It's something brought in by the Pubs, through request, to distance themselves, from Lynx and Bar Blanco, where trouble has been occurring from the departing drunken yobs, god help the residents of those flats above Blanco, it must be hell Friday and Sat night......

Rayleigh pubs look to be cold, desolate places if they start banning the local trouble makers. Isn't that the populace of Rayleigh?

White Hart is shut down for a refurb. When it opens it will have a Prezzo attached to it.

Rayleighs problem is, and always has been, is DRUGS. Been that way since the late 90s and the fact you have shed loads of teenage abso's high and drunk on alchopops over in Websters way doesnt help matters either.

Firstly, Maybe this scheme isn't being introduced to stop the violence that occurs but has the more apparent idea of preventing crime and disorder before it gets to the stage of violence.

Secondly the comment about 'class a drugs being found in the Travellers Joy'. Lets look at the reality, every single pub will have traces of class a drugs, it's almost impossible to eradicate completely.

Also bearing in mind this was well over 18 months ago which since then has seen a new manager who has revived the family friendly atmosphere within the pub and tackled the issues head on.

The pub watch scheme is 100% legal contrary to the ridiculous statement above.

Rayleigh is becoming a popular place to visit and this scheme will only bring a safer environment for everyone.

There will be a drastic fall in drug use when people start to realize that when they get barred from one place they will be barred from everywhere in Rayleigh. The risk won't be worth it when they find they can't enjoy a night out on their doorstep without paying extras for cab fares and trains fares to get to Southend and further afield for a night out.

Furthermore the comment which suggests this is being introduced so the pubs can distant themselves from the likes of Linx and bar blanco seems ridiculous seeing as all licensed premises are involved working together, it seems as if the pubs seem more than happy to work hand in hand with each other to prevent disorder and crime.
