A MAN was cut out of his car by firefighters after it left the road and struck a lamppost.
Emergency services were called to Eastwood Road, Rayleigh, today, Friday, just before 4pm where a Toyota Avensis had collided with a lamppost.
The driver, a man in his 40s, was trapped and had to be released by fire crews from Rayleigh Weir and Hawkwell.
Stuart Twigg, sub-officer at Rayleigh Weir fire station, said they removed the roof and got the man out on a back board as a precaution as there was evidence he had suffered a blow to the head.
He said: “Because of the nature of the incident the road had to be shut for the period of the operation, which would have caused some considerable delay for other motorists.”
No other vehicles were involved.
