A CAR wash owner has expressed his frustration at his business being closed while immigration officials vetted his staff.
Leigh Car Wash, in Broadway, was closed for about an hour on Tuesday from 3.10pm after officers from the Home Office arrived to search for illegal workers among the businesses ten staff.
However, no arrests were made leaving owner Qasim Zyberi frustrated at his lost custom.
He said: “I got a call from my manager who said their vans had blocked the entry and exit. They had been so rude and I was cross about that, but we are legitimate business that has been here nine years now.
“We’re well known and always comply with regulations so it doesn’t bother me too much, the government has to do what it has to do, but I’ve lost business.”
A spokesman for the Home Office said the immigration enforcement department inspects businesses every day based on intelligence about potential illegal workers but not all lead to arrests
