A CHEEKY football fan tried to get Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to commit his future to...Southend United.
Wenger, manger of the Premier League leaders, admitted he had “never considered” joining the Blues because he hasn’t needed a job.
Wenger was quizzed by the Blues fan during an online question and answer session on the official Arsenal Twitter feed.
User @hands omead78 asked Wenger: “will u ever consider managing #southend utd?”
Minutes later the Gunners boss responded, but was not tempted to leave the Premier League side for League Two Southend.
He said: “Honestly, I like the name, but I have never considered it as I haven’t had to look for a job!”
Wenger, whose contract with Arsenal is up in the summer, is the longest-serving manager in the country and has helped the Gunners win three Premier League titles and four FA Cups.
Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League despite losing to Manchester United at the weekend.
In contrast, Southend United, managed by former Hull City boss Phil Brown, are currently ninth after 15 League Two matches this season, just one point away from being in the play-offs.
