COUNCIL tenants are making the most of a hassle free way to move by swapping their homes.
South Essex Homes, who manage Southend Council’s 6,000 properties, has joined House Exchange, a website allowing people interested in exchanging their council homes to advertise their property to others also looking to move.
Danielle Bloss, 31, of Royston Avenue, Southend, recently swapped her twobedroom maisonette, in East Street, for a three-bedroom house so her two children no longer have to share a room.
She said: “It is an amazing scheme, much easier and faster than I originally thought, I’d recommend it.”
In the 2012/13 financial year, 62 mutual exchanges took place in Southend.
