DAVID Hasselhoff will star in this year's panto at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend.

The theatre announced today that ex-Baywatch and Knight Rider actor David Hasselhoff will appear as Captain Hook for this year’s pantomime - Peter Pan.

David Hasselhoff, aka The Hoff, is best known for his iconic roles as Michael Knight in Knight Rider and Mitch Buchanan in Baywatch.

David, who stars as pantomime’s ultimate baddie says he’s thrilled to be heading to Southend this Christmas.

He said: “I love performing in Panto. It’s a wonderful British tradition and a great excuse to get the whole family together and enjoy a wonderful and entertaining time at the theatre. I’m also looking forward to spending next Christmas with the people of Essex... so watch out - "Hoff the Hook" is at it again! See you there!"

Jonathan Kiley, executive producer of Peter Pan, said: “We are thrilled to present such a huge talent for this year’s Cliffs Pavilion Christmas show. The news that the legendary Hoff is to lead a fabulous supporting cast, combined with top-drawer production values, stunning sets and fabulous costumes makes Peter Pan the region’s unmissable pantomime.

“Peter Pan guarantees a treasure-chest full of comedy, much seasonal silliness, along with stunning flying sequences. You're guaranteed to be hooked by the swashbuckling pantomime adventure which has enthralled audiences for decades and is the perfect festive treat for all the family.” added Jonathan.

Referring to the star’s popularity, Cliffs Pavilion Theatre Director, Ellen McPhillips, commented: “The Cliffs Pavilion has hosted may star names in our pantomimes over the years, but we are truly excited to be welcoming a major Hollywood international TV star this Christmas.

“David Hasselhoff is instantly recognisable to everyone and massively-popular around the world for his roles in Knight Rider and Baywatch and we would strongly urge our audiences to book their tickets without delay.”

Peter Pan is produced by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s largest pantomime producer. Such is the expected demand for tickets that the producers have added an extra week to the planned run.

Peter Pan will be playing from Saturday 13 December 2014 to Sunday 11 January 2015. Tickets can be booked online at southendtheatres.org.uk.
